Consumer's Co-op Oil Co. of Clarkfield was officially organized and incorporated in Minnesota on July 28, 1924 as a domestic cooperative. It has remained an active Minnesota cooperative for over a century.

Its formation occurred during a period when many rural Minnesota farmers and residents created cooperatives to purchase fuel, petroleum products, and other supplies at competitive prices.

The cooperative has long operated from 1218 10th Avenue, Clarkfield, Minnesota, serving the local agricultural and residential community.

Over the years, it expanded beyond fuel sales to include refined fuels and bulk petroleum products, propane services, auto repair, and a convenience store.

The cooperative emphasizes the traditional cooperative principle that “the customer is the company,” meaning it is member-owned and operated for the benefit of its patrons.
